Mastery Medicine. Resilience. Leadership.
– a birthday tribute to Brian Fitkin, 80 years and still going strong
On the occasion of the 80th birthday of Brian Fitkin, I want to share a few reflections.
Some people teach.Others shape people.
To me, Brian represents something far beyond techniques, ranks, and titles. He embodies what I call Mastery Medicine.
Mastery Medicine is about building people from the inside out.
About developing resilience — not as hardness, but as integrity.About standing firm in who you are.About being solid and authentic.
Resilience is enduring resistance.Resilience is tolerating truth.Resilience is calling a spade a spade — while still carrying warmth and humor.
Leadership is not position. It is influence. It is lifting others without diminishing them.It is creating direction without dominating. It is creating safety that allows people to become courageous.
Turning 80 and still being fully active is, in itself, a living example of sustainable strength, discipline, and value-based leadership over time.
Through my encounters with Brian, I have witnessed what authentic leadership looks like in practice:
Clear. Honest. Value-based.
And carried with a sense of humor that lowers shoulders and opens space.
This is not just reflection.
It is direction.
To cultivate mastery. To strengthen resilience. To develop value-based leadership.
Written with deep respect, gratitude, and joy —
as a birthday tribute to a man who has left a lasting mark.
